About our Bookshop

Before Sabinillas had an underpass and long before the large apartment blocks were built The English Bookshop was located in a lean-to next to the supermarket Mi Super. Now you’ll find The Sabinillas Bookshop as it is now called on Calle Bolivia, parallel to the A7 highway.

After undergoing extensive refurbishments over a four year period, the shop now extends to the whole length of the building allowing for access on both sides of the shop.

Part of the magic of having a secondhand bookshop is sharing our passion for books with you. It’s the people bit of bookselling that we love! Talking to you, hearing about what you’ve enjoyed reading and making our own recommendations.

When you step inside we want you to discover treasures and surprises that you won’t find online

The books are cared for by our bookish people, who look after and arrange an eclectic but carefully chosen range of second-hand books, a selection of new books and reprints from interesting publishers. You can browse at your leisure and take advantage of our relaxing sofa and chairs where you can meet other bookworms and chat about books or share local gossip!

When The English Bookshop was taken over in 2011 by Steve it was renamed The Sabinillas Bookshop (As we don’t just stock English books) and underwent a series of facelifts. Now, as well a large range of second-hand books covering all genres we also sell greeting cards, gifts, party products, helium balloons, daily newspapers and magazines as well as a first class postal, Passport & courier service

The Sabinillas Bookshop is located just before the Mercadona supermarket and is a booklover’s haven, where our staff are always happy to answer questions, make recommendations and take orders for any books in print, which can usually be obtained within a week. We’re well qualified to advise on anything from Charles Dickens to Barbara Cartland!! We have customers, who visit us from all over the globe every year and it’s great to see them so pleased to be back in the Bookshop.
